This customers Asus Chromebook C434T came into us with a power fault.
After checking the usual causes such as the power supply and type C power socket it turned out to be a board fault.
In this case we could see the USB type C power management ic had damage to it and needed replacement.
As you can see in the image (5p coin to show size) the BGA chip on the right was removed and replaced using hot air micro soldering.
Once replaced the board we refitted to the machine with another successful repair carried out.
