The PSP Service Mode Battery is a specially encoded battery that allows the Sony PSP to boot directly into service mode with certain custom firmwares. Allowing infinite possibilities with custom firmware the PSP Service Mode Battery can also resurect machines which have failed during firmware updates off new games, previously a service only avaliable by Sony themselves.
The battery boots into service mode when the required software is put onto a memory stick and inserted into the PSP.
